KuCoin Copy Trading: 138 Lead Traders, Zero Losers, and 37,328 USDT of Copier Losses (2026)

KuCoin publishes both the lead trader's return and the aggregate PnL of everyone copying them. We pulled the whole Copy Trading Hub from KuCoin's own public endpoint: 138 lead traders, all 138 profitable over 30 days, a filter for losers that returns an empty set — and copiers down 37,328 USDT between them. Plus the real fee arithmetic, the 10-32% profit share, and the clauses in the copy trading contract.

KuCoin copy trading publishes something almost no other venue does: next to every lead trader's return, it prints the aggregate profit and loss of the people copying them. On 16 October 2026 we pulled the whole hub out of KuCoin's own public endpoint — 138 lead traders, every single one of them profitable over 30 days — and added up the second column. Their copiers were down 37,328 USDT.

That gap is the entire review. Everything else here — the fee arithmetic, the profit-share tiers, the clauses in the copy trading contract, the jurisdictions that cannot sign up — is context for one measured fact: a leaderboard on which it is arithmetically impossible to find a losing lead trader sits directly above a column showing net losses for the people who followed them. If you want the same automation without an exchange balance in the middle, our Solana copy trading bot guide covers the non-custodial route.

The short verdict

KuCoin copy trading is a functioning, reasonably well-documented futures copy product with a leaderboard that is filtered to show only winners and a cost structure that scales with leverage. It is not a scam. It is also not what the hub page implies it is.

Read whole, KuCoin copy trading suits an experienced perps trader who already understands that fees are charged on notional and who treats the leaderboard as a list of candidates rather than a ranking of skill. It is a poor fit for a beginner who arrives expecting the top of the list to be the best choice, and the reason is in KuCoin's own data rather than in our opinion.

What KuCoin copy trading actually is

It is a futures-only product. KuCoin's own FAQ is unambiguous: copy trading "supports over 100 USDT-margined perpetual contract trading pairs," runs in a copy trading account that is "separate from the futures account," and allows a follower to copy "up to 10 lead traders at a time." There is no spot copy trading in the live product, which separates KuCoin from BloFin, where spot copying shipped in January 2026.

The mechanics are standard for the category and close to Bybit copy trading and Bitget copy trading:

  • Two allocation modes. Fixed Ratio sizes every copied trade by "Follower's Margin Balance / Lead Trader's Margin Balance." Fixed Amount uses a flat USDT figure per trade regardless of the lead trader's own position size.
  • Isolated margin only. Cross margin is "not currently available," and KuCoin says it "plans to introduce cross margin mode in future updates." Position mode is one-way, so no simultaneous long and short on the same contract.
  • Slippage protection at 0.5%. KuCoin caps the acceptable deviation at "0.5% for all trading pairs." A copy that would fill outside that band simply does not fill.
  • New positions only. "When copy trading starts, only new positions opened by the lead trader will be copied, not existing ones." If you start following a trader who is already holding, you get the next trade, not the current one.
  • Minimum 10 USDT. 128 of the 138 lead traders on the hub set a minimum copy amount of exactly 10 USDT; the highest minimum we found was 200.

The copy relationship can also end in ways you did not instruct. KuCoin's trial-fund rules describe an "Auto-Switch to Active Traders" feature: "within 24 hours after using the voucher, if the followed trader has no transactions, the system will automatically switch to follow an active trader." It applies to trial-fund copying rather than to your own capital, but it is worth knowing that a feature which reassigns your chosen trader exists at all.

We pulled the leaderboard: 138 lead traders, zero losers

KuCoin's Copy Trading Hub is backed by a public, unauthenticated endpoint — a POST to /_api/ct-copy-trade/v1/copyTrading/rn/leaderboard/query with a page number returns every listed lead trader with their return, their own capital, their copier count, their assets under management and the aggregate PnL of their copiers. Three requests return the whole hub. Anyone can re-run it.

Our snapshot was taken at 15:11 UTC on 16 October 2026 and returned 138 lead traders. Their 30-day returns:

30-day return Lead traders
Negative0
0% to +5%34
+5% to +50%77
+50% to +100%10
Above +100%17

The lowest 30-day return on the entire hub was +0.0027%. The median was +18.16%. The highest was +3,519.32%. Not one lead trader was down.

That is not a coincidence and it is not a good month. The endpoint accepts the same filters the website's UI exposes, and asking it directly settles the question: a query for lead traders whose 30-day return is less than or equal to zero returns zero rows, while the unfiltered query returns 138. A query for lead traders whose 30-day profit is less than or equal to zero also returns zero rows. The visible population of KuCoin lead traders is 100% profitable by construction, and the filter proves it rather than implying it.

This matters because it is the opposite of what a leaderboard looks like if it is a sample of traders. A survivorship-filtered list cannot tell you what the median outcome of copying someone on KuCoin looks like, because every data point that would have told you has been removed from the page before you arrive. The same structural problem shows up in our wider survey of crypto copy trading platforms, but KuCoin is the first venue where we have been able to prove it with the platform's own filter.

What the copiers actually made

Here is the figure that makes KuCoin unusual: it publishes the copiers' side too. Every lead trader's card on the hub carries a "Copy Traders' PNL" number, and the API returns it as a single field. Added across all 138 lead traders, it comes to −37,328.38 USDT.

The breakdown:

  • 41 lead traders have negative copier PnL, totalling −57,949.43 USDT.
  • 26 have positive copier PnL, totalling +20,621.05 USDT.
  • 71 show exactly zero, which is what you get when nobody is copying or nothing has been realized.

Strip out the lead traders nobody is copying and the picture gets sharper, not softer. Of the 75 lead traders with at least one copier and non-zero assets under management, 41 are negative, 26 are positive and 8 are flat. In other words, among lead traders who actually have customers, more than half have lost money for them in aggregate — while every single one of them is displayed with a positive 30-day return.

Across the whole hub, the lead traders made +121,135.72 USDT of 30-day profit between them. Their copiers lost 37,328.38. The same strategies, running at the same time, on the same venue, produced a positive number upstairs and a negative number downstairs.

Three examples, all from the same snapshot, show the mechanism rather than the headline:

Lead trader 30-day return Copiers Copy traders' PnL Days as lead
Freddy1e10+1.49%156−38,704.10584
CryptoFinix+3,519.32%86−731.8219
Full-time trader+38.19%168+9,643.72260

Freddy1e10 is the whole argument in one row. A lead trader with 156 followers, 584 days of history and a displayed 30-day return of +1.49% has cost the people copying them 38,704 USDT — more than the net loss of the entire hub. A small positive number at the top of a card is compatible with a very large negative number underneath it, and the only reason you can see that at all is that KuCoin chose to publish both.

Full-time trader is the counter-example and deserves the same prominence: 168 copiers, +38.19%, and copiers up 9,643.72 USDT. Copy trading on KuCoin can work. The point is not that it never does — it is that the ranking you are shown contains no information about which of the two cases you are looking at.

Credit where it is due, incidentally. Publishing the copiers' column at all is more transparency than most venues offer, and it is the reason this article could be written. Binance, OKX and MEXC do not hand you an unauthenticated endpoint that scores their own product.

The leaderboard is mostly empty accounts

The second thing the data shows is that the hub is far thinner than 138 lead traders makes it sound.

  • 63 of 138 lead traders have zero copiers. 87 have one or fewer. Only 25 have ten or more, and only 3 have a hundred or more.
  • 1,314 copy relationships exist in total. The top three lead traders hold 33.7% of them and the top ten hold 64.0%.
  • Total assets under management across the whole hub is 238,854.31 USDT — roughly a quarter of a million dollars across 138 traders, averaging 181.78 USDT per copy relationship.
  • The median lead trader has 9.35 USDT of copier money. That is below KuCoin's own 10 USDT minimum copy amount: 72 of 138 lead traders hold less copier capital than one copier is required to deposit.
  • AUM is as concentrated as the copier count — top three 49.5%, top ten 80.6%.

The lead traders' own capital tells the same story. Median own-account principal is 442.91 USDT; 72 of 138 are under 500, 91 are under 1,000, and only 9 hold 10,000 USDT or more. The smallest was 99.98 USDT, which matches the 100 USDT minimum KuCoin advertised for lead trading in its 2026 Elite Trader Premier Program.

None of that is fraud. It is what a marketplace looks like when the barrier to listing is 100 USDT and a KYC check, and it is the right context for the ROI column: a 3,519% return on 2,041 USDT of capital is a different object from a 3% return on 625,013, and the hub sorts them into the same list. On listing age, 21 of the 138 have been lead traders for 30 days or less, and three were in their first day — already showing a 30-day return, already on the page.

Metrics that do not survive contact with the data

Two findings in the snapshot suggest the displayed return is measuring something narrower than "this trader makes money."

First, 22 of the 138 lead traders show a positive 30-day return with zero trades recorded in the same 30-day window. Their median displayed return is +15.13%, the highest is +2,512.02%, and between them they account for 12,488.76 USDT of displayed 30-day profit on no recorded trades. Unrealized movement on older positions, funding, and the boundary of the counting window can all explain it, and KuCoin does not publish the definition — which is exactly the problem. A return that moves without trades is not a measure of the strategy you are about to copy.

Second, the extremes are driven by denominators rather than performance. CryptoFinix's +3,519.32% sits on 2,041.70 USDT of own capital and 19 days of history. Several of the three- and four-figure percentage returns on the hub belong to accounts holding a few hundred dollars. Percentage return on a tiny base is not a signal that transfers to someone allocating real money — a point we make at length in is copy trading profitable and the risks of copy trading.

One thing we checked and can clear: every one of the 138 records carried a trial-fund profit flag set to false, so none of the displayed returns on the day we looked were inflated by KuCoin-issued trial capital. KuCoin does issue "Lead Trading Trial Funds" of 200–2,000 USDT to traders migrating from other platforms, so the flag exists for a reason — it was simply not set on anyone currently listed.

There is also a genuine structural caveat KuCoin states itself, and it is the honest explanation for part of the gap between the two columns. Copy trades are executed with "IOC (Immediate-or-Cancel) limit orders or prevailing market prices," and "execution timing, pricing, and outcomes may vary from those of Lead Traders due to market conditions, liquidity, latency, and other factors." Add the 0.5% slippage band, the new-positions-only rule and per-contract minimum order sizes, and a copier's fill set is simply not the lead trader's fill set.

What it costs: fees, leverage and the profit share

Copy trading fees "align with the futures trading fee rates based on the KuCoin account's VIP level," which means the copier pays the standard futures rate on their own volume, at their own tier. At VIP 0 that is 0.02% maker and 0.06% taker.

Worth flagging before the table: two live KuCoin help pages publish different futures fee grids. The "KuCoin VIP Privileges" page, last updated 10 July 2026, lists VIP 9–12 taker at 0.03%; the VIP fee-system page lists 0.033% / 0.030% / 0.028% / 0.025% for VIP 9–12, and those are the figures that match KuCoin's own fee adjustment notice effective 16:00 on 23 March 2026 (UTC+8). The two pages also disagree at VIP 1, 2, 4 and 5. We have used the figures corroborated by the announcement, and the usual rule applies: read the rate in your own account panel before sizing anything.

VIP level Futures maker Futures taker 24h withdrawal limit (USDT)
VIP 00.020%0.060%1,000,000
VIP 10.018%0.060%3,000,000
VIP 30.010%0.060%5,000,000
VIP 50.006%0.048%10,000,000
VIP 80%0.036%15,000,000
VIP 120%0.025%60,000,000

The number that matters is not the rate, it is the rate multiplied by the leverage. Futures fees are charged on notional, and KuCoin states the relationship itself in its own campaign material: "Trading Volume = Principal * Leverage (e.g., opening and closing a position with 50 USDT principal and 50x leverage can reach a trading volume of 5,000 USDT)." A copy round trip is open plus close, so at the VIP 0 taker rate it costs 0.12% of notional. Against the margin you actually put up:

Leverage Notional on 1,000 USDT Round-trip fee As % of your stake
1x1,0001.20 USDT0.12%
10x10,00012.00 USDT1.20%
20x20,00024.00 USDT2.40%
50x50,00060.00 USDT6.00%
125x125,000150.00 USDT15.00%

KuCoin Futures advertises leverage up to 125x across 529+ contracts, and copy trading runs on the same contracts. At the top of that range a single open-and-close cycle costs 15% of the margin behind it, before funding and before the lead trader's cut. Because the rate falls with volume, the smallest copier accounts pay the most per trade — and the smallest accounts are what the AUM data says this hub is made of.

Trade frequency turns that into a real number. The busiest lead trader on the hub recorded 8,683 trades in 30 days — 289 a day. A copier mirroring those at 1,000 USDT of notional per trade pays 0.60 USDT a trade at the VIP 0 taker rate, which is 5,210 USDT of fees in a month. The median lead trader is far quieter at 17 trades in 30 days, but you choose a trader from a list that does not sort on this, so check the trade count before the return.

On top of the exchange fee sits the lead trader's profit share, which runs from 10% to 32% of your net realized profit. KuCoin's published settlement rules are better than most:

  • Daily settlement at 00:00 UTC, paid into the lead trader's spot account.
  • Calculated on cumulative realized PnL, after "fees, funding fee, and taxes (if any)" — so unrealized gains are not billed.
  • A high-water mark. The lead trader's share is "(Followers' Cumulative Realized PNL − Distributed PNL) × Profit-Sharing Ratio," and "when cumulative realized PNL are less than or equal to distributed PNL, the lead trader's share is zero." You do not pay twice for recovering a loss.
  • Collection is persistent. "If the copier's available balance is lower than the profit-sharing amount, causing the transfer to fail, the system will retry the transfer until the full profit-sharing amount is successfully" collected.

At 32%, a copier who nets 1,000 USDT of realized profit keeps 680 of it. That is the top of the industry range — BingX also reaches 32% — and it is worth setting against a performance-based fee charged by the platform rather than by an individual, which is how our own model works.

How KuCoin pays its lead traders

The incentive design on the other side of the trade explains a lot about the leaderboard. KuCoin's current programme, "KuCoin Futures Elite+," runs from 6 September 2026 to 30 November 2026 and sets five tiers:

Tier Profit share Monthly salary 30-day volume required Max 30-day drawdown
Beginner10%—> 0—
Advanced15%—≥ 200,000≤ 40%
Expert20%100 USDT≥ 500,000≤ 30%
Master25%350 USDT≥ 2,000,000≤ 25%
Legend32%700 USDT≥ 5,000,000≤ 20%

Three things in that programme are worth knowing before you pick a trader.

The highest rates go to the least-proven accounts. "Within the first 30 days after joining," every new lead trader gets a 20% base profit share — double the Beginner rate — and 32%, the Legend rate, "if, within 30 days, you meet either of the following conditions: at least 3 copiers, or at least 1,000 USDT in copiers' AUM." Three customers in the first month buys the top tier. Twenty-one of the 138 traders on the hub were inside that 30-day window when we looked.

A tier can be imported from another exchange. KuCoin offers "tier migration" to lead traders arriving from elsewhere: supply "win rate, Sharpe ratio, maximum drawdown, copiers' PnL, copiers' AUM" from the previous platform and "they will inherit their previous platform tier and enjoy the same or even higher benefits," plus a Lead Trading Trial Fund of 200–2,000 USDT. Set that against clause 2.4 of KuCoin's own copy trading contract, which states that KuCoin does not "verify the accuracy of Lead Traders' information or claims." A verification badge reading "Legend Trader" can therefore rest on records the issuer has told you in writing it does not check.

The tiered copier caps do not exist yet. The programme publishes per-tier limits — 200 copiers at Beginner rising to 2,000 at Legend, with copier investment capped between 10–10,000 and 10–100,000 USDT — and then says in its own terms, at clause 4, that "the perks related to the Maximum Number of Copiers and the Limit for Copier's Investment under Lead Trader Perks are temporarily unavailable and will be enabled in future product upgrades." The API confirms it: all 138 lead traders carry a maximum copier count of exactly 1,000, regardless of tier. The published table describes a product that has not shipped.

One clause in the same terms is unusually candid. KuCoin reserves the right to disqualify lead traders for "excessive historical cancellations of Lead Trader accounts, frequent fund transfers, hedging against copiers, and any other suspected illegal, fraudulent, or harmful activities." Hedging against copiers means running the opposite position in a second account so that the followers' losses are the lead trader's gains. Venues write rules against the things that happen, and the copy trading contract separately prohibits "performance manipulation, including false or misleading track records, artificial inflation of metrics and/or manipulated win rates."

Seven of the lead traders are not trading on KuCoin

Each record on the hub carries a source-exchange field, and seven of the 138 read "BN" rather than "KU." Those are Binance accounts surfaced on KuCoin's leaderboard through the cross-exchange copy trading feature its terms describe — and they are not a fringe case. The seven hold 279 of the hub's 1,314 copy relationships, 21.2% of the total, and include the single most-copied trader on the platform: Full-time trader, with 168 copiers.

KuCoin's copy trading terms set out what that means legally. Cross-exchange copying is "provided solely as a technical execution and relay tool based on User authorization," it "does not constitute brokerage, agency, custody, discretionary management, or order-routing services," and "KuCoin does not normalize, harmonize, or adjust exchange-specific parameters" — differences in "leverage limits, margin requirements, liquidation mechanisms, funding rates and risk controls" between the two venues are yours to absorb. The terms also instruct users to supply only API keys with "read-only permissions (or the minimum permission scope required for Cross-Exchange Copy Trading as specified on the Platform)," which is the right instinct, though the parenthetical is doing the work in a feature that has to place orders.

None of this is hidden, but none of it is on the card either. If you are choosing a trader on the basis that KuCoin's matching engine and KuCoin's liquidity are what will execute your copy, check the source exchange first.

The clauses that matter in the copy trading contract

KuCoin's Copy Trading Terms of Service, last updated 13 December 2025, contains four provisions worth reading before you allocate.

  • You waive the right to dispute the numbers you chose the trader by. Clause 2.5: "all data generated by KuCoin for purposes of calculating performance metrics, earning yield, or profit sharing shall be final and binding. You hereby expressly waive any right to contest or challenge the accuracy of the data or information provided by KuCoin." The leaderboard is the input to your decision and the contract removes your standing to question it.
  • Copy trading can reach outside the copy trading account. The product is sold on a "designated sub-account," and clause 2.6 then states that "where insufficient funds exist, we will utilize available balances in your User Account (e.g. Funding Account or Trading Account) for trade execution," and that you authorize KuCoin "at our sole discretion, to allocate your available account balance proportionate to the copied account to maximize trade replication capability." The sub-account is an organising convenience, not a ring fence.
  • The liability cap is near zero for a copier. Clause 8.2 limits KuCoin's total liability to "the fees paid by you for the Copy Trading Services in the month preceding the incident." Copy trading itself carries no subscription fee — you pay futures commissions and the lead trader's profit share — so what that cap resolves to is left to interpretation, and not in your favour.
  • Parts of it may still be beta. Clause 7.1 notes you "may be invited to participate in the 'greyscale testing' phase," described as "a beta or developmental stage that is unofficial, experimental, and may be unstable or contain errors," with an express and irrevocable waiver of any claim arising during it.

The contract also describes a product wider than the one that exists. Clause 2.1 says the service "enables the automatic replication of trading activities across both spot and derivatives markets," while the FAQ and the live hub are USDT-margined futures only. And clause 3.2 requires lead traders to "meet the minimum trading experience and performance criteria" and "maintain minimum account balance requirements" without naming any of them — the same pattern of unpublished thresholds we found in BloFin's lead trader contract. The one number KuCoin does publish, 100 USDT of lead capital, is matched exactly by the smallest account on the hub.

Who can and cannot use KuCoin copy trading

KuCoin's Terms of Use, last updated 29 September 2026, name the Restricted Locations explicitly: "the United States (including its territories such as Puerto Rico, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, American Samoa, etc), Singapore, the mainland of China and Hong Kong, Malaysia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Ontario, and British Columbia of Canada, France, Netherlands, the Crimea, Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions of Ukraine," with the list subject to change "at the Platform's sole and absolute discretion."

That list includes four countries excluded for regulatory rather than sanctions reasons — Singapore, Malaysia, France and the Netherlands — plus two Canadian provinces. Note also that Article 104 sends any dispute to the Singapore International Arbitration Centre, a forum seated in one of the jurisdictions KuCoin will not serve.

The US exclusion has a specific history that is worth stating plainly, because it is the counterparty question in concrete form:

  • January 2025. Peken Global Limited, the entity that operates KuCoin, pleaded guilty in the Southern District of New York to one count of operating an unlicensed money transmitting business, agreed to penalties totalling more than 297 million dollars, agreed that KuCoin would exit the US market "for at least the next two years," and agreed that founders Chun Gan and Ke Tang would have no further role in KuCoin's management or operations.
  • 23 January 2025. KuCoin closed all accounts belonging to US residents and restricted access from US IP addresses, with a one-time 30 USDT fee for assisted withdrawals after the deadline.
  • 30 March 2026. A CFTC consent order permanently enjoined Peken Global from allowing US participants direct access to its order-matching system without registering as a foreign board of trade, and imposed a 500,000 dollar civil monetary penalty. The order records that approximately 1.54 million US-located participants entered trades directly into KuCoin between July 2019 and June 2023. No disgorgement was sought, in part because of the forfeiture already imposed in the criminal case.

Two details are worth noting without drawing conclusions from them: the DOJ described Peken Global as Seychelles-based in 2025, while the 2026 CFTC consent order describes it as incorporated under the laws of the Turks and Caicos Islands. And the question of whether copy trading is lawful where you live is separate from whether a venue will serve you — we cover that in is copy trading legal.

KuCoin copy trading vs on-chain copy trading

The structural difference is custody, and it determines what you can verify. On KuCoin, your assets sit in KuCoin's wallets, you trade an internal balance, the leaderboard is computed by the venue, and the contract asks you to waive the right to challenge those computations. On Solana, the equivalent product runs against a public chain, where the trades you are copying are blocks anyone can read.

KuCoin copy trading On-chain copy trading (uwuu)
CustodyKuCoin holds your assetsNon-custodial — you keep your keys
Track recordComputed by the venue; accuracy not contestable per clause 2.5Verified on-chain; every trade auditable by anyone
Losing traders visibleNo — the filter returns zero rowsYes — the chain records losses as well as wins

ExecutionIOC limit or market, 0.5% slippage cap, new positions onlySub-400ms execution with smart trade filtering

Neither architecture removes the fundamental risk, which is that you are delegating decisions to someone else. What it changes is whether you can check the delegate's record yourself. If that distinction is the one you care about, decentralized copy trading covers the architecture and how to copy trade on Solana walks through the setup. Hyperliquid copy trading is the closest on-chain analogue to KuCoin's perps product if leverage is the point.

How to use it without being the exit liquidity

If you are going to copy on KuCoin, the data above translates into five checks that take two minutes each and are not sorted for you:

  • Read the copy traders' PnL before the ROI. It is on the same card. A positive return above a negative copier column is the single most common configuration on the hub — 41 of the 75 traders who actually have copiers.
  • Check the trade count. Zero trades in 30 days alongside a 15% return means the number is measuring something you cannot see. Thousands of trades means your fee bill, not the lead trader's, is the variable that decides your outcome.
  • Check the lead trader's own capital and days as lead. A four-figure percentage return on a few hundred dollars over nineteen days is noise. Median own capital on this hub is 442.91 USDT.
  • Check the source exchange. Seven of 138 trade on Binance, including the most-copied account on the platform.
  • Size for leverage, not for allocation. Your fee bill is margin × leverage × 0.12% per round trip. Decide the number you are willing to lose and work backwards — the same discipline covered in position sizing and copy trading risk management.

And keep the venue risk in view separately from the trader risk. Copying a good trader on a venue that closes your jurisdiction's accounts with seven days' notice, as happened to US users in January 2025, is still a bad outcome. That is the argument for keeping execution close to your own keys wherever the strategy permits it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does KuCoin have copy trading?

Yes. KuCoin runs a futures copy trading product covering more than 100 USDT-margined perpetual contracts, operated through a copy trading account that is separate from your regular futures account. A follower can copy up to 10 lead traders at once, in isolated margin and one-way position mode only. There is no spot copy trading in the live product.

What is the KuCoin copy trading profit share?

Lead traders take between 10% and 32% of a copier's net realized profit, depending on their tier in the Elite+ programme. New lead traders receive a 20% base rate for their first 30 days, rising to 32% if they attract three copiers or 1,000 USDT of copier assets in that window. Settlement is daily at 00:00 UTC, calculated on cumulative realized PnL after fees and funding, with a high-water mark so you are not charged twice for recovering a loss.

What are the fees for KuCoin copy trading?

Copy trades are billed at the standard KuCoin Futures rate for your own VIP level, which is 0.02% maker and 0.06% taker at VIP 0, on top of the lead trader's profit share. Because fees are charged on notional, a single open-and-close cycle costs 0.12% of notional — 1.20% of your stake at 10x and 15% at the 125x maximum.

Are KuCoin lead traders profitable?

Every lead trader displayed on the hub is, by construction. We queried KuCoin's public leaderboard endpoint on 16 October 2026 and all 138 listed traders showed a positive 30-day return; a filter for returns at or below zero returns an empty set. Their copiers are a different matter: the aggregate copy traders' PnL across all 138 was −37,328.38 USDT, and among the 75 traders who actually have copiers, 41 were negative against 26 positive.

Is KuCoin copy trading available in the US?

No. The United States and its territories are named Restricted Locations in KuCoin's Terms of Use, US accounts were closed on 23 January 2025 after Peken Global's guilty plea in the Southern District of New York, and a CFTC consent order of 30 March 2026 permanently bars direct US access without foreign board of trade registration. Singapore, mainland China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Ontario, British Columbia, France and the Netherlands are also excluded.

What is the minimum to start copy trading on KuCoin?

128 of the 138 lead traders we sampled set their minimum copy amount at 10 USDT, with the highest minimum on the hub at 200 USDT. On the other side, KuCoin has advertised a 100 USDT minimum to become a lead trader, and the smallest lead account on the hub held 99.98 USDT.

How is this different from copy trading on Solana?

Custody and verifiability. KuCoin holds your assets, computes the leaderboard and asks you in clause 2.5 to waive the right to contest those computations. On-chain copy trading is non-custodial and the track record is the chain itself, so losing traders are as visible as winning ones. The trade-off is instruments: KuCoin offers leveraged perpetuals, on-chain copy trading on uwuu is spot Solana tokens with no liquidation risk and a performance-based fee you pay only when you profit.
